PRINCIPLE OF RUINS, 2016
2x8 CNC-milled 1" foams, some covered with stucco and marble vinyl tiles, 9x8 mylar floor, 4 min video on monitor
Principle of Ruins is based on Albert Speer’s, Hitler’s architect, theory of the ruin value, whereby he designed buildings to fall into beautiful ruins.
The video uses light and projections to perform the fascist architectural projects. Surrounding the video, are fragments of our own technological ruins. The CNC-cut foams take their shape from glitches on the panoramic function on the iPhone. The technologies that offer to clarify the reading of history, end up obscuring it. |
