"when they came...", 2015

When They came... is composed of four CNC-cut foams covered in stucco and vinyl tiles with Carrara marble motif. These sculptural elements refer to fragments of ruins, yet the fracturing along their edges is oddly regular.

I obtained this result by misaligning the images to form a panorama on the iPhone. I then traced the fragmented image on Illustrator and used the CNC-machine to carve into the 2" thick foams. ​
